Description: Saturday 22 July 2017 Brook were 10 minutes away from the shock of the Season as they led table toppers Underbank Rangers 16-10. The Holmfirth side showed why they are favourites for promotion though and a late rally that left the home side empty handed following a game in which they deserved to take something from. Following an even opening quarter Brook took the lead following a Scott Davidson one on one ball steal Brook set up the position for Jordy Welsby put up a huge bomb which the visitors defence could not handle Mark Webster collected the loose ball to send Nathan Goodwin over for a try on his debut with Aaron Hewitt landing a superb touch line conversion. The lead did not last too long 5 minutes later Sam Rochford jinked his way over the try line with Richard Pogson landing a simple conversion. Pogson gave the visitors a 10-6 interval lead with two late First Half penalty goals. Brook levelled the scores 10 minutes into the Second Half Scott Davidson was involved again his great offload under pressure released Nathan Goodwin who scored a well taken try in the corner. With 15 minutes remaining Brook snatched the lead following an attacking set Jimmy Brown jinked and dummied his way to the try line on the last tackle he was tackled just show short but managed to stretch out his arm to plant the ball down under the posts with Aaron Hewitt converting to give his side a 6-point lead. Jordy Welsby was wide with a drop goal attempt as Brook looked to increase their lead. Underbank increased the pressure on Brook as they attempted to get back into the game and with 10 minutes remaining the pressure told when Alex Chatterton found a gap to go through and score Pogson?s goal levelled the scores the third lime in the game. Two minutes later a well taken Drop Goal from Billy Rogers edged Underbank in front. The home side tried desperately to take something out of the game however with only two minutes an error was seized upon by Craig Williams who raced away to score and seal the game for the visitors. Description: Great to see such a great tournament put on by Community Saints and Sky Try. St Peters & St Paul won the James Roby trophy and the Royals Under 8s were well represented by providing five of the ten players, these being: William Hughes, Jack Lee, Archie Lowe, Thomas Owen and Daniel Weston. William also got player of the tournament and they would like to thank their teacher / coach Miss Tunstall and Community Saints for making it an enjoyable day.  more...

St Peters & St Paul won the James Roby trophy and the Royals Under 8s were well represented by providing five of the ten players, these being:

Description: Saturday 8 July 2017 Coach Ant Walker had to ring the changes again as player unavailability meant he needed to make 8 changes from the previous Weeks Team. Veteran Forward Ian Buckley was called up to play also Lee Brown and Craig Littler also joined the squad late on Saturday morning and all three paid their part in the amazing win at 4th place Normanton. Brook opened the scoring in the 5th minute when Jimmy Brown offloaded to Jon Glover who bundled his way to score with Jordan Darwin landing his first of 6 goals. Ten minutes later Brook were in again as Danny Fairhurst went on the blind side of on attacking scrum to score an opportunist try. The visitors were unlucky not to increase their lead Jordan Darwin was ankle tapped as he looked likely to score and Cameron Tunstall crossed the try line from the resulting play the ball only to held up as he desperately tried to ground the ball. Jordan Darwin converted two penalties either side of half time as Brook extended the lead to 14-0. The home with the vocal backing of the home spectators found a way back into the game James Senkiw found his way over from an attacking scrum with Clark Thompson converting and 5 minutes later Senkiw was in again for an unconverted try following a Brook error. The Knights completed their comeback and took the lead with their third try in 10 minutes. A kick on the last tackle hit Jimmy Brown flush on the forehead and rebounded into the arms of an attacking player the Referee bizarrely wiped the tackle count clear and within a couple of tackle Big Prop Clark Thompson bulldozed way under the posts with Kieran Bailey adding the extra to give his side the lead for the first time.
