Sapho are from Sutton, St Helens and were founded in January 2017 with the line up of Liam Abbott, Brad Owen and Luke Burrows.
The three, who are members of indie group The Patriots, have formed the new project which will see them write their own material.
The trio, who met at St Cuthbert’s School, Sutton, St Helens have performanced at the When In Manchester festival on April 15 2017.
‘Change’ is the only song that Sapho carried over from The Patriots as it was a very late Patriots song and they liked it so much.
“They are writing their own material and take it to the next level,” said Daz Owen in The St Helens Star, dad of band member Brad, who is joint managing the band alongside Nicole Burrows from Manchester based Mean Promotions.
“All the lads are local so we wanted to do the first gig in St Helens. They’re absolutely buzzing and it is something they always wanted to do but they appreciate the The Patriots is a popular project but this is completely separate. Nothing has changed.”
