Fool Britannia EP released 29 June 2016

Track 1 – written by Brian Shea

Lyrics

No it doesn’t concern you
You’re happy with Coronation Street
And fish and chips for tea
Who needs Serge Gainsbourg
When you’ve got an army of Alf Garnetts for company

Fool Britannia
You’re digging your own grave
Fool Britannia
Divided we stand, together we’ll fail

As the nation descends into farce
Boris texts a smiley face to Nigel Farage
Do you expect me to applaud your lack of culture
Stand and admire your lack of class
Join a line with the bigots you fed with fear and anger
Fed fear and hate

Fool Britannia
You’re digging your own grave
Fool Britannia
Divided we stand, together we’ll fail

Credits

Brian Bordello – Vocals/Acoustic Guitar and Bongos,
Dan Bordello – Glockenspiel/Fuzz Bass and Backing Vocals

Track 2 – written by Brian Shea

Lyrics

Slouched against the bar
Not knowing who or where they are
Voices distorting, is this where the shooting starts?
Shouting along to Oasis Rock’n’Roll Star

And I hide my tears, my despair and my fears
For this land where yobs rule

Three lions emblazoned across their hearts
Show their national pride by wafting away
The stench of their farts
I get up to leave the barmaid to enjoy
Another rousing rendition of get your tits out for the boys

And I hide my tears, my despair and my fears
For this land where yobs rule

Credits

Brian Bordello – Vocals and Guitar,
Dan Bordello – Bass/Percussion and Keyboards,
Ant Bordello – Zither

Track 3 – written by Dan Shea.

Lyrics

So croon of runes, of kings and fools
Fondly imagined past when wise men ruled
You brutal gardeners sadly mistaken
For God is nowhere and nothing’s sacred
On the left side there is history
The other side of truth
Left side history, the other side of truth
One hand there is history
The other hand truth

THE ARMCHAIR SADIST’S LEATHER GLOVES
ON CLOSE INSPECTION MITTENS
FROM LOVE’S FIRST FLUSH TO TENDER BLUSH
WITH CLICHED TRANSGRESSION YOU’RE UTTERLY SMITTEN
On the right side there is history
On the left there’s the truth
Murder mystery
Murder made history

The white man’s got a God complex
But Jehovah is nowhere to be found
Heil Mary full of shit, empty your bladder on hallowed ground
And I’m coming for the blue bloods
I’m coming for their lives
I’m coming undercover of night, a night of long and blunt knives
Yeah I’m coming for the porcine the lukewarm the paper thin
This is about the colour of your money and not the colour of your skin
On the right side there is history
On the left we have truth
The right have their mysteries
The left we have truth

The future was never yours
The past was always your domain
The future was never yours
The past was always your domain

A punch to the face that smashes through to the other side, strong fingers mould your play-dough head into a critique of male violence. I’m tired and poisoned by masculinity. We need to start over, start again.

From Small Bear Records website:

October 9, 2016 – We do believe in melonfarmers…

As any fule kno, we’ve been working with the magnificently other Bordellos for quite some time now, and we’re ultrachuffed to announce – today – in the middle of a world which is turning to shit faster than UKIP go through leaders – their new LP. “How to Lose Friends and Influence No-One” is, in this writer’s humble opinion, their best and most cohesive work yet (yeh, even better than the one I produced). Filled to the brim with their trademark scabrous rants and soft psychedelic whimsy it feels like the distillation of everything they’ve been working towards for the past couple of years. Music to think to, yes, but music to just flat-out adore. in a world of drones, The Bordellos are the bee who should have been Queen.
